Spark Station Master Erin here! We all have wishes and dreams, and mine are to have a fully stocked and functional craft room at CoreCon this year!
The Spark Station will be brand new at the 2018 convention. We will have open crafting sessions and panels where you can learn new ways to be creative. You have to check it out!
The problem with starting something brand new is that we don’t start with any supplies from previous years. Everything we have will be newly acquired. And since CoreCon is a volunteer-run convention, volunteers (like Erin) are in charge of gathering these things. If you want to contribute to what should be a really great addition to the CoreCon experience, we would glad accept any art items you may have, especially these:
- Paint Brushes
- Paint
- Scissors
- Glue Sticks (School Glue Type)
- Construction Paper
- Colorful Duct Tape
- Scotch Tape
- Markers
- Origami Paper
- Bobby Pins
- Blank Plastic Headbands
- Adhesive Craft Foam
- Fuse Beads
- Colored Pencils
- Gift Cards to Local Crafts Stores – These will be extra helpful because we will have specialized panels, and gift cards will let us buy supplies as we need them.
They also need people to run panels! Preferably people who volunteer will run a 1-hour panel and teach something fun or new to a group of around 30. You can either teach the class about something you’d like to or choose from one of our already organized panels. Fill out the form here to tell us how you want to help.
Have some stage fright and don’t feel comfortable teaching a class but still want to help? We’ll need people to tidy the room or assist during panels. Our CoreCon volunteers are a major help in all areas of CoreCon, but we’ll be utilizing them for this as well. If you want to become a volunteer, fill out the form here, and you can list your preferred area as Spark Station.
If you have questions related to anything having to do with Spark Station, like how to donate, get involved, or just what to enjoy there, please email Erin at sparkstation@fargocorecon.org.
However you choose to participate, you’ll be appreciated in Spark Station. See you there!
