CoreCon is getting crafty! Beginning in 2018, for the first time ever, we will have our very own craft room! Spark Station will be a place to spark your creativity, learn some new skills, and take home a fun and unique souvenir from the convention! There will be a full schedule of crafting sessions available in the program guide, but if you want to help make this room extra awesome, we’ll tell you how!
Want to teach a class? Spark Station is currently looking for people who would be interested in leading craft sessions. Each class size will be around thirty. If you’re interested, please contact the Spark Station Master to discuss any classes that might be affordable and fun for you to lead. There are currently some basic crafting classes without teachers, and they can provide you with any instructions or black and white printouts. Some classes might have the supplies already provided, and some may need you to bring your own. If you want to teach something but have no idea what, the Spark Station Master can help with that, too! She has tons of ideas but not enough time to teach them all!
You can’t have crafts without craft supplies! Since this is the first year for the Spark Station, there is very little back stock. The collection is slowly growing, but they would love donations of general craft supplies, including paintbrushes, paint, scissors, glue sticks, construction paper, colorful duct tape, Scotch tape, markers, and colored pencils. The need for other items will depend on what people sign up to teach. They’d happily accept gift cards so they can shop on their own and get anything they might be missing. If you want to support the cause, email the Spark Station Master (i.e. Erin) at sparkstation@fargocorecon.org
At the end of each session, they will need some help cleaning the room and preparing for the next class. Some sessions may need help throughout the activity. This counts as volunteer time for CoreCon, so fill out the volunteer form linked below and write in “Spark Station” as an area you’d like to volunteer for. [Editor’s Note: CoreCon loves our volunteers, and the convention wouldn’t be possible without them. Please join us to help out around CoreCon X! One of us… One of us…]
If you just want to do crafts, that’s fine! That’s what the room is there for! A full schedule for Spark Station will be printed in the program guide and the app. There will be kid-friendly crafts earlier in the day and adults only projects throughout each evening. There will hopefully be something for every crafter! See you there!
